What We Believe

Grow in faith, make disciples, serve in love.

House of Prayer is a community of believers coming from all walks of life. While we may have differing viewpoints on a lot of things, the one thing that we can all agree upon is that everyone is welcome at our church. You have been claimed as a child of God through Jesus Christ. No matter what your background might be, or what your life story entails, we have a place for you where you will be cared for and nurtured to go out into the world to be a blessing to others.

Grow in faith.

Faith is where it all begins. Jesus says that all we need is to have faith the size of a mustard seed, and then watch what happens as you nurture that faith and grow in your relationship with the Lord. When we believe that Jesus died on the cross for us, we are brought into a restored relationship with our God…and some pretty amazing things take place!

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
— Ephesians 2:8

Make disciples.

Jesus’ last words to his disciples before he departed the earth was to get out in the world and make disciples. In other words, venture out there and let people know what Jesus’ love is all about. Invite friends, family, neighbors, and strangers to join you in living a life with Jesus as the foundation. Let others in on that little secret…that God is love!

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...
— Matthew 28:19

Serve in love.

Jesus came to us in order to free us from sin and death, but also to show us how to live an abundant life, and that begins with serving others. Jesus demonstrated this act of service as he washed his disciples feet. Jesus came to serve, rather than to be served, and he wants us to walk in these same footsteps as we tend to the needs of our neighbor.

For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
— Mark 10:45
