    COMMUNITY SERVICES & PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT


           
    • God's Work Our Hands Service projects- members and friends of the church gather for a day of service, ministering to those in need in our congregation, community, and world.
    • Family Promise- on a quarterly basis, House of Prayer hosts homeless families at the church for a week at a time.  Church members and friends prepare meals for the families and act as overnight hosts.
    • Hospital Visitors- a team of people who faithfully visit members/friends who are in area hospitals or homebound.  To join this team or request a hospital visit, contact our Pastor.
    • Prayer Chain-a team of people who pray for those in need and offer up prayers of thanksgiving.  For prayer request or to join the team, please contact Nina Zoch: nzoch49@sbcglobal.net or the church office at housefprayerhouston@gmail.com.
    • "I Can Read" Reading Readiness Program- Every Monday at 9:15 a.m. during the school year, volunteer teachers help children learn basic reading skills. Click here to send an email requesting more information.

             

    • Lutheran World Relief - House of Prayer collects items for baby care kits, school kits, fabric kits, and personal care kits; and offers fair trade coffee, tea, and chocolates through LWR.  To donate or assist, contact Beverly Curtice curtice@swbell.net.    
    • Recycling - House of Prayer cares for creation and recycles household items: batteries, ink cartridges, compact florescent light bulbs, paper, plastic, and cell phones. Drop off your items in the church office.  
    • Quilting Groups meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month as well as the 4th Thursday of the month and donates their quilts to Lutheran World Relief.   
              
    • Women of the ELCA – All women of the church are members of the Women of the ELCA who are called to act boldy on their faith in Jesus Christ. Contact Beverly Curtice at curtice@swbell.net.
    • Ladies Birthday luncheon – All women are invited to celebrate monthly birthdays at a local restaurant. Typically on the first Thursday of the month.  In lieu of gifts, the group collects offering for local and national charities. 
    • Book Clubmeets at the church on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm.  
    • Lutherhill Ministries- Every summer kids from House of Prayer attend camp at Lutherhill for growth in faith and fun with friends.

    • ELCA Good Gifts- Buy chicks, mosquito netting, water filters, or school supplies for those in need through the Good Gifts program.
