ELCA GOOD GIFTS
In July, we celebrated Christmas, sang carols, and enjoyed fellowship around the gift of grace that we were given in Jesus Christ. We, as a church family, also stepped up to support the ELCA Good Gifts program, a ministry that is offered through the ELCA Hunger Relief Program. As the HoP family, we bought -

  • 50 chicks, laying eggs - a source of protein for families and an avenue of income for folks struggling with hunger and poverty.
  • 3 Honey Bee hives - pollination for plantsand crops. Potentially, a way to produce soaps, candles, honey.
  • 3 goats - fresh milk for families in hard environments.
  • 2 pigs - a good investment for many families to survive failed crops, medical expenses, or other unexpected needs.
  • 1 set of oxen with plow - a transformational way to share God's abundance, potentially tripling a farmer's annual harvest.
  • 1 backpack with food - sending a child home with food on the weekend for the entire family.
  • 5,000 water purification tablets - 1 tablet transforms 1 gallon of water to protect people from contaminated water.
  • 1 water well - helping up to 500 families gain access to clean, safe water.
  • Feeding a refugee family for 1 month - refugees exceed 50 million people worldwide. Food and water are critical; this gift helps them recover their strength and prepare for a fresh start.
  • A share of a community vegetable garden - giving people a voice in what they grow and helping to feed families in need.

Additional donations will go where the ELCA World Hunger programs have the most need. As a church family, HoP raised over $4,000 that will be sent to the ELCA Good Gifts Program. --- Thank you for all the Blessings
