HOUSE OF PRAYER IS GROWING IN FAITH, DISCIPLES, AND LOVE!
LENT AT HOUSE OF PRAYER LUTHERAN CHURCH
House of Prayer's motto and guide for servanthood is "Grow in Faith, Make Disciples, Serve in Love. It continues to bless our lives today! The special Congregation meeting held last Sunday, February 12th was to vote on calling Pastor DJ Dent, Jr. to be House of Prayer’s next Pastor.
HoP overwhelmingly voted to extend a call! Victor Johnston, Council President, spoke to Pastor DJ later that day and Pastor DJ accepted! This is Pastor DJ’s Acceptance Letter.
Here is an excerpt from a message sent out earlier this week from Council President Victor Johnston: “House of Prayer will be finalizing the details on the Dent family’s move to Texas....Thank you for your support throughout this process, and in particular for respecting the confidentiality involved. Together, with your prayers, the hard work of our Call Committee, and God’s guiding hand, we have reached a significant milestone. More to follow shortly.”
ASHES TO GO is getting organized for Ash Wednesday, March 1.
For those of you new to House of Prayer, "Ashes to Go" is a ministry in which folks are offered the Imposition of Ashes in the church’s parking lot as they drive through in their cars. We will do this from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 6p.m. on Ash Wednesday.
There are four ways to help with this ministry, and we do need lots of help—
(1) holding up signs out on Space Center Blvd
(2) supervising the parking lot,
(3) publicizing this piece of ministry
(4) praying at HoP or home/work.
Please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex if you are willing to lend a hand.
Here is who’s coordinating each these 4 ways of helping (their contact information is listed in the Sunday bulletin)
- Signage on the street—Dawn Lambert
- Parking lot—Nina Zoch
- Publicity—Joyce Miller (Click here for a downloadable 2 per page Invitation to share with your friends and family)
- Praying at HoP or home/work—Barbara Hagemeister
SERVICES AT 7PM EVERY WEDNESDAY IN LENT
Our Lenten journey begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1, with a traditional liturgy at 7 p.m. which includes the Imposition of Ashes and a sharing of Holy Communion. It will continue each Wednesday in Lent with a singing of Holden Evening Prayer at 7 p.m. We will explore the meaning of The Lord’s Prayer in these services, focusing on the individual petitions each week. Holden Evening Prayer is a brief but beautiful setting of Evening Prayer.
We hope many of you will join us on these evenings.
